I had a wonderful time capturing maternity and family portraits of this lovely family on a wonderful spring afternoon in Folsom, Ca, a couple of weeks ago. This radiant mama has since delivered a healthy and beautiful baby girl, and I am very excited to get to meet her when she comes to my studio this weekend when they stop by for newborn portraits.
The springtime may easily be my most favorite time of the year to capture outdoor portraits. As a Sacramento area maternity photographer, I am continually on the look for scenery that would make a nice backdrop for portraits, and I have been so happy with how beautiful Sacramento and all of the surrounding areas are lately. When it is springtime, the trees and wildflowers are in bloom, the summer heat wave has not hit us yet, and i can’t think of a more perfect time to take portraits outdoors.
For this lovely spring maternity session I met Jen, who is expecting her third baby, and her family, on a picturesque sunny afternoon at one of my favorite spots near Folsom Lake. These guys were absolutely delightful to photograph and we could not have asked for a more perfect afternoon. Her boys are rambunctious, full of personality, and gave me lots of smile. They really enjoyed going on a short hike down the trail to the lake. I had them stop and at all of my favorite spots, and I was so pleased to see wildflowers springing up in bloom everywhere we looked. All of these plants in bloom are killing my allergies, but although I’m sneezing I can’t bring myself to complain because the scenery is just too beautiful! Not only did we encounter pretty surroundings, in addition the afternoon sunlight was golden and beautiful and it made my photographer’s heart so happy. I ended our time together by having Jen pose in front of one killer sunset.
In addition to bringing her first look with her, Jen was interested in taking me up on my offer to provide her wardrobe for her. She chose to wear an off the shoulder knit floor length gown made by Sew Trendy Accessories and she also picked out a sheer lace maxi dress also made by Sew Trendy Accessories. (Can you guess what my favorite maternity gown vendor is? Haha!) I absolutely adore that lace dress on Jen. It hugged her baby bump perfectly and I am so pleased with how gorgeous these maternity portraits turned out.
Wishing a huge congratulations to this family on the arrival on their newest member. Thanks for the fun time!
