I had so much fun taking Lily’s pictures back in December. The months of September through December are by far the busiest for a family photographer, and I will testify that this is indeed true! I have been kept very busy photographing a ton of amazing families in the Sacramento area over the holidays and I’m still catching up on my blogging and am having a great time going through all of my holiday sessions and reminiscing about all the awesome times I had this holiday season. This particular holiday mini session is one of my favorites!
On a very chilly and foggy morning, I had the pleasure of being able to take portraits of a delightful young lady named Lily. She (and her mom!) are one of my most favorite clients. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph her a couple of times now, and we always have a wonderful time together! She brought her three big dogs, a Starbucks red cup, and her awesome mom along to her mini session. Lily’s mom was interested in holiday themed portraits and wanted to include their dogs in the portraits. (The dogs did great during the photo shoot, and I found them to be very obedient. Thanks guys!) When she described to me the colors that she was planning for Lily’s outfit I came up with the idea of meeting in Old Roseville and shooting around downtown by where the giant Christmas tree is set up. I showed them around downtown, shared quite a few laughs, and had a fantastic time together.
I mentioned that this morning was very foggy. Thanks to that fog, the sky worked as a natural softbox and created a lovely effect in the lighting of these portraits. I did use one small off camera flash in these portraits, but most of this light is from the heavens. I just love how this came together!
Thanks again for the awesome portrait session!
