I am so in love with these family photos! I adore the pretty colors and all those happy smiles.
We had a great time over at Land Park a couple weeks ago. Sweet little Nora just celebrated her first birthday, and her parents thought it was a perfect time time to take some pictures. She was given a birthday cake to eat, or smash, depending on how you put it.
But Nora, ever the lady, used her exceptional manners and just kind of picked at it. She was very excited to take a bath after cake time and wash the frosting off her hands. I love ending cake smash sessions this way, since it makes clean up so easy.
When doing a session like this with small children, I love to just hang back and take snapshots of the baby running around or having fun. I’ve said this multiple times, but I LOVE capturing candid moments. I’ve taken some beautiful posed photos, and in most of these shots from this session, I directed the family how to stand, where to look, what looks most flattering, etc. But nothing compares to the story that a candid photos tells. I aim to capture moments as they happen so that when looking back at your family portraits, you can instantly be transported back to that moment in time. I want to capture personalities and real genuine joy, not just “cheese smiles”. I took that shot of Nora running into her daddy’s arms and I fell in love with it! This session was alot of fun because I had several moments where I managed to nail those candid lifestyle photos that I love so much.
Thanks again, Alsu, Abram, and Nora! Your family is darling, and I loved meeting you guys.
