Here is a peek at an amazing winter maternity session that I am in LOVE with.
This radiant mama is expecting her second baby, and I am so happy that she selected me as her Sacramento area maternity and newborn photographer. Tanesha and I have been friends for years. I just adore her and am so excited for her growing family. I feel honored to hold the title as her family’s photographer and I have captured many of her major life milestones over the years. From her wedding portraits, to her last maternity portrait session which was captured inside her home in Sacramento in an intimate setting where she showed off her adorable baby belly, her older daughter’s newborn portraits, and now these amazing winter maternity portraits, it is incredibly special to play a role in all of that. It makes me so happy to be able to customize portrait sessions for people I know closely, because I can sneak in personal details for them, and my goodness, we sure had fun with this maternity session!
When we found out that she is expecting another baby girl, and was due in the winter time, we started brain storming ideas for winter maternity portraits and unique ideas for newborn portraits. This is a completely normal activity if you are friends with me! With the date of our session being in the winter, it can make outdoor sessions a challenge because of the weather. With most of my favorite Sacramento and Roseville locations out of commission at this time of the year due to the weather, I told her that I didn’t mind traveling to a really awesome location in Northern CA or setting something up in my studio located in Citrus Heights, CA. Since she had already had indoor boudoir style maternity portraits done with her last pregnancy, she was interested in an outdoor maternity session and wanted to include her toddler daughter who is so excited to be a big sister. We decided to travel to gorgeous South Lake Tahoe where I took their pictures in the snow at golden hour.
Tanesha dressed her family in perfectly coordinated outfits for her first casual look and then selected one of my maternity gowns to wear for her second look. I have a closet of gowns that I offer to all of my maternity clients. All the mamas love to play dress-up, and I always love adding a bit of glamour to my maternity sessions. Tanesha selected a Sew Trendy Accessories off the shoulder knit gown in winter white and wore an adorable flower crown in shades of crimson and greens. Poor Tanesha about froze to death in that snow, but I kept telling her that the end result would be so worth it! And since I’ve sent her a couple of sneak peeks, she enthusiastically agrees with me. This was one of those shoots where I had meticulously
obsessed planned out evevery detail, and it all magically came together which makes me feel ecstatic.
