This is one of my all time favorite maternity sessions. It was captured in my back yard in Citrus Heights, CA. We just moved here, and it’s a very pretty location that I would love to book more sessions at. It’s an ideal spot for glamour and beauty portraits of expecting moms since it is very private and I have space in my house for wardrobe changes and hair and makeup.
I’ve been needing to blog about this for some time now, and I am so excited to finally share this project with you guys. Several months ago, way back when it was still summer time and back when my dear friend Tashae was still pregnant, she came over to model some of my maternity gowns that I was working on. When an expecting mom purchases my maternity portrait package they can choose to borrow one of my dresses for their photo shoot. I have several beautiful gowns and I am always looking to add more to my collection. In my spare time. (When I have spare time! Ha!) I love to make maternity gowns, pretty dresses, and baby clothes. It’s so fun for me to up-cycle old clothing and make something new and beautiful out of it. One of these days I’ll have to write a tutorial post about my techniques. The pink dress that Tashae is modeling is an old bridesmaids dress that I altered to fit her belly. I love the way she wore it! I had her pose in my backyard at golden hour and she looked absolutely radiant. She gave birth to her healthy and perfect son a couple of weeks later. She is doing great and is already an amazing mama!
I pride myself on my turn around times, and I work very hard to ensure that my clients receive their pictures as soon as possible. With that said- this summer has been insanely busy for me. We moved across town, and I also moved studios and relocated from Roseville to Citrus Heights. In between the massive amount of packing, un-packing, and my own personal business, I’ve been able to photograph so many amazing families around the Sacramento area this year. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to say that I’ve captured more newborn, maternity, and family portraits than ever before! Since Tashae is one of my besties and I know she’ll forgive my tardiness, and I have just kept pushing her pictures down the to list every time something came up. But I’m so happy to be able to share them now. I also have her darling son’s newborn portraits waiting to be edited, and plan to get that done ASAP because Baby Jonah is just the sweetest little Bubs ever and I can’t wait to show you this precious baby boy!
